The Fine Art of Printing

Today’s photographers are truly fortunate to have so many options when printing their images. But with these options comes complexity due to the large number of choices in papers and printing technology. In this program, Mark Fitzgerald will help you understand important concepts and terminology to help you get up to speed and begin making your own fine art prints for competition and sale. Mark used to teach this popular class at Newspace Center for Photography and now he’s bringing it to OPPA for this special program.

Some of the things you’ll learn:

  • Overview of printer, ink, and paper technologies.
  • Understanding color management.
  • Fine–tuning & preparing images before printing.
  • Different ways to print black & white.
  • Breaking down Lightroom’s Print module.
  • Working with printer software.
  • Working with the printer hardware.
  • Considerations when preparing files for lab printing.

Mark Fitzgerald is a photographer, educator, and author based in Portland. Mark is a PPA Master Craftsman Photographer and an Adobe Certified Expert. He is a past president of OPPA and PMPA.
